DAY 1 Melbourne – Philip Island |
Pick up your Wicked van in the morning and hit the road for Philip Island, an easy two hour’s drive from Melbourne. Check out the seal colonies at Nobbies Centre and the Koala Conservation Centre for your Australian wildlife hit. Get lost in the giant maze at Amaze ‘N Things or pop in for a tasting at the Philip Island Chocolate factory. While away the time swimming, kayaking or getting a surf lesson. DAY 2 Philip Island – Wilsons Promontory |
Enjoy spectacular coastal views as you navigate your Wicked van through the wild Bunorong Coast. Stop for a surf at Cape Paterson, or cast a line at one of the local’s fav spots. If it’s adrenaline you’re after, Inverloch is a haven for kite surfers. Stop for lunch in the quirky fish-themed town of Fish Creek before pitching a tent at Tidal River. DAY 3 Wilsons Promontory – Lakes Entrance |
Make your way to the sleepy seaside town of Port Albert for a spot of fishing. For more active pursuits, detour via Tarra Bulga National Park for scenic walks. Keep your eyes peeled for lyrebirds! Don’t miss the pristine white sands of Ninety Mile Beach, one of the world’s longest beaches. Stop at Sale, the western entrance to the Gippsland Lakes to grab lunch and stock up on provisions. Continue to Lakes Entrance, Australia’s largest fishing port, where the expanse of protected lakes make the ideal base for fishing, boating and enjoying fresh seafood. 275km/ 3 hours 28 minutes |
DAY 4 Lakes Entrance to Mallacoota |
Relish in East Gippsland’s amazing coastline and lakes. You can detour inland to see the stunning limestone Buchan Caves. Pass through the township of Orbost, near the famous Snowy River and continue to Mallacoota. For nature based activities check out the spectacular Croajingolong National Park, hugging the East Gippsland coast – selected by Tourism Australia as one of Australia’s National Landscapes . 203km/ 2 hours 36 minutes |
DAY 5 Mallacoota to Batemans Bay |
Enjoy the New South Wales South Coast with a visit to the coastal town of Merimbula. Plan your visit for June to experience the Merimbula Jazz festival or for those visiting through the summer months the Mambo Merimbula Wave Classic is held in November. 285km/ 3 hours 48 minutes |
DAY 6 Batemans Bay to Sydney |
Take time to enjoy the busy coastal town of Batemens Bay and its surrounds. With two marine parks at Jervis Bay and Batemans Bay, dolphins and migratory whales are a common sight off the coast and Montague Island is home to a thriving population of Australian fur seals. 342km/ 4 hours 22 minutes |
